Oil Skin

Oil Skin emerges as the result of one technique's completion and the beginning of another. My painting method, I call "scarring," though initially appearing destructive, is a deliberate process of carefully cutting through layers of coloured oil to achieve the final canvas image. The cut oil skins, taken from different canvases, expose diverse layer shades and shapes, with each strip retaining a unique purpose. When these individual skins come together, they create an entirely new entity. It is almost as if many paintings with different meanings and reasons become one, blending into a single, entirely fresh work of art and sculpture.
